When we are Closed

Emergency medical care is provided by some of our doctors and other local GPs working in a scheme called Urgent Care Herts (HUC) will be recorded.

A doctor or a specially trained nurse will assess each call and may offer telephone advice, invite the patient to attend the emergency surgery at HUC’s base in Addenbrookes Hospital or arrange for a home visit.

This service operates when the practice closes, ie from 6.00pm to 8.00am on weekdays and from 6.00pm Friday until 8.00am Monday.

Please note that for medico-legal reasons your calls to Out of Hours (HUC, Urgent Care Herts) will be recorded.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
